You can upload a Bacs Active (EaziPay) file using a CSV (.csv) or text (.txt) file. Bacs Direct supports both standard Bacs Active files and legacy EaziPay formats, making it easier to continue using existing file generation processes.
đNote: Destination account names longer than eighteen characters are automatically truncated during processing and exported in Bacs Standard 18 format.

Processing dates
Bacs Active files require a processing date. Bacs Direct supports the following date formats:
YYYY-MM-DD, for example 2026-09-01
DD-MMM-YYYY, for example 01-Sep-2026
DD/MM/YYYY, for example 01/09/2026
Amounts
Amounts must be provided in pence. Bacs Direct accepts both standard Bacs Active and legacy EaziPay formats. For example:

SUN numbers
SUN Numbers are normally expected on transaction lines with transaction codes 0N, 0S and 0C. However, Bacs Direct also supports legacy EaziPay files where SUN Numbers are not included on these lines.
Limits and processing
Bacs Direct supports Bacs Active (EaziPay) files containing up to 1.2 million rows.
