ARUDD reason code 6 (No Instruction)

ARUDD code 6 (No Instruction) means the bank has no Direct Debit instruction set up for that payer.

Written by Gemma Langley

ARUDD reason code 6 (No Instruction) means that a valid Direct Debit instruction (0N message) has not yet been sent to or lodged with the payer’s bank, so the Direct Debit has not been fully set up and any collection attempts cannot be processed.

This commonly occurs when an ad hoc payment is added to a Direct Debit contract with a due date before the contract start date. As the instruction is only sent once the contract becomes active, you’ll need to wait until the start date has passed before attempting to collect any payments.

If this doesn’t apply, there may have been an issue submitting the 0N instruction to the bank. In this case, please contact our support team and ask to speak to an agent, who can investigate and help resolve the issue.
